Overheard in the Doctor's Office

Maybe we should switch to military time?
Patient: I had an appointment at 10 o'clock [it's 10:50], but I thought it was at 1 o'clock. Can the doc still see me?
Me: Well, the doctor has to be out of the office in just a little and he's already running behind so I don't believe it'll be possible for you to be seen today.
Patient: Well, I normally see the nurse, can she still see me?
Me: Well, she also has to be out of the office pretty soon, so I don't think there will be time to fit you in.
Patient: Well what do you want me to do?! DIE without my medication? [Yes, she said this.]
Me: I'm going to transfer you over to our scheduler and she can find a time for you to come in.
Patient: I THOUGHT my appointment was at 1! I didn't have my glasses on when I looked at my appointment card last night and I THOUGHT IT SAID 1! I didn't know it was at 10!
Me: I understand, it's just a mix-up, it happens all the time.
Patient: And now I'm getting punished for it. WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT?!
Me: [Oh so patiently] I am going to transfer you to our scheduler. Have a great day!

Because I Really Suck At Updating

Here are the links to two of my sister's blogs:

Lisa's Blog: http://lisalonghorn.blogspot.com/

Thu's Blog: http://thulovealways.blogspot.com/

They have already posted photos from the family reunion/Amanda's going away shindig. I will try to see about getting all of that blogged about tonight. I still haven't blogged about the rest of Boston... or about Amanda's grad... so... we'll see how that goes :)

Anthro's been going AWESOMELY well because they've had to cut back hours on people due to inventory going over, yada yada yada... yesterday and the Monday before, I got off right around 8:30, right when our last customer left! It was aweso!!!! Then closing Wednesday night seemed like it'd be hell because it was mostly new hires (can you believe it, I'm considered "seasoned!") who hadn't ever closed before. There were some hiccups (I'm convinced this one girl doesn't have a clue what to actually do during closing and instead she just got really good at looking busy) but all in all it looked really good! I love pretty much all of my managers and even have some girl crushes on them. I've gotten to know a number of my fellow employees really well and I really like some of them!

Alright, back to real work.

BTW--I'm restarting a workout regimen. Or... something. We'll also have to see how THAT goes! (It's been quite awhile...)

A Thousand Words Still Aren't Enough

The more fun you're having, the more you want to document that fun!

But--

The more fun you're having, the less likely you are to stop the fun to grab a camera.

Thankfully I have a pretty decent memory (right LC?) and am likely to remember how much fun we all had this weekend! I will have an update with pictures about this weekend soon! :)

Note to Self: Late Night Chats

Staying up until 4 am chatting with your sisters is totally worth being tired at 9 am!

Poor Mom and Her Phone Call

Ugh, I just did one of the things I HATE doing--but ALWAYS do.

My mom called me twice this morning. I missed both calls because--obvsnodoy--I'm working.

8:16 AM -- Missed Call
9:05 AM -- Missed Call

When your mother calls you twice early in the morning when she knows you're at work, you assume it must be for something important. She didn't leave a voicemail, which normally she does if it's something silly (like "Oh hello daughter... don't forget to to go to church on Sunday!") so of course this leads me to believe that this must be an important phone call.

I finally call her back. She's in a pretty good mood. She lets me know she's going to pick up my contacts from my eye doctor today. I'm frustrated already because I can tell she's just buttering me up. But for what? Turns out--all she wanted to know was if there was a grocery store near our campsite for this weekend. Surely because she wants to cook us a delicious meal. SO WHY WAS I SO ANNOYED?!?!?! I don't know, but I, of course--like all my siblings before me--showed my annoyance and soon mother was off the phone. Not before happily letting me know that she loves me.

So then I hang up the phone and I feel guilty guilty guilty for being so annoyed at my mother for doing nothing but asking me a question. But doesn't she know how her kids feel about questions?!?!?!?

Out One Day With You, Hallelujah!

A double Dupree wedding for two of the Eisley members :) Chauntelle & Weston! It makes me happy!

Sending You the Compliments You Deserve

Dear Anne,

On a daily basis (that is, when I'm wearing it) I get tons and tons and tons of compliments on your necklace. I had always envied it when you had it, and when David chose to give it to me, it was probably one of the best things anyone had ever given me. It's by far one of my most-prized possessions. Every time someone compliments me on it (and believe me, it's a LOT), it's just a reminder of you and your great taste. :) I remember the first time I ever met you (the day of UT's Commencement ceremony in 2002 for Lisa's law school graduation), I told someone (maybe Lisa?) that you looked like you belonged in the 1920's--what with your short hair and cute dress. You just had a style and a way that was so awesome to me. You always did. Anyway, just wanted to let you know. :)

Love,
Mel

Lost in Boston: On Purpose... Maybe...

Finally-- my Boston Blog! :)

Unfortunately I do not have any photos documenting Buddy and my first leg of the trip. This involved a sunny little place in Boston called Revere Beach. Let's just say there was some miscommunication on which hotel exactly we were to be staying at and... Buddy and I got to explore more of Boston than originally intended. No big :)

So Buddy and I finally get to the Comfort Inn Courtyard Marriot. We check in, rest a bit and head out towards Jenny's neighborhood to meet up with the girl for some fizood. First of all, Jen's apartment is darling. And I mean DARLING. It's a three floor walk-up, but toates worth it. Her roommates are great too! We sat around an chatted with them Sunday afternoon--but that's not the part of the story I'm at... so we'll get to it when we get to it. We're ready to go to Fenway for the game (Red Sox vs. Twins) but first--BUDDY AND I ARE FRIGGIN STARRRRRRVING!

Buddy & Me at Penguin Pizza with our Honolulu Pizza

I would give... good money (I was going to pick an appendage, but honestly, I don't want the pizza THAT bad) for a slice of that pizza right now. After some good food, chatting, catching up, yada yada... it was time for the three of us to head the park. Originally the plan was to walk there (it wasn't that far) but we took too long to eat, so we decided to take a cab. After re-routing our cabbie to get him to Fenway and not whereever the Celtics are playing (which is where he was going...) we finally make it to Fenway!

Jenny & Buds on our cab ride to Fenway

Buddy and I sat and watched the game. Buddy started nodding off (it had been a loooooong day), so we went to get some coffee, souvenirs and general scenery. We get back to our seats with the crazy insane Red Sox fans and we watch a VICTORY!!!!

RED SOX WIN!!!!

Then the three of us head to The Mission Bar and Grill where the three of us enjoy is some delicious drinks and more chit chat. Tim joined us after he "put his grandparents to bed," which was nice :) Buddy and I couldn't stay too long though. The subways closed at 12:30ish and neither of us really wanted to take a cab, so... off we went that night!

Yummy drinks at The Mission Bar and Grill

JJ came in shortly after we arrived at the hotel and me, being the night owl I am couldn't sleep so I spent a lot of time watching lame hotel tv. Including one of the Astros games in which ESPN classics decided to play. In which Albert-fucking-Pujols hit a homer right over the Crawford boxes to bring us down. So sad. Damn Lidge.

Okay, there we go for the first part of the Boston trip :) Time to go continue to do nothing with Thomas! Sorry if this blog is very jumpy and... bad. I'm watching Man in the Iron Mask and am currently waiting for our pizza to get here... bc talking about Penguin Pizza made me hungers.

More Blogging Time, Less Spending Money

I just did an excel sheet that shows me how much I've made at Anthro, how much I've spent at Anthro since then, and the difference between the two. There should be surprise that it is a negative amount.

However the amount that I have spent at anthro in the past two months is APPALLING.

New rule.

More time blogging, less time spending all my money at Anthro.

Damn that place.

To make myself feel slightly better, here are my most recent purchases that made it all worthwhile:

And yes, I realize the shirts are the same shirt... I'm just glad I talked myself out of buying THREE!
