Spring Formal 2012: Under the Sea

The night we watched "Better Luck Tomorrow" for one of our Monday Night Dinners, Johnny became inspired to have a formal.  Have a formal, we did!  The following weekend, we went shopping and went ahead and decorated the house:

Then the night of the formal (March 10th) finally came!  All day was spent putting some finishing touches up on the decorations and Maggie spent much of it making delicious goodies for the dessert table!  There were a lot of DIY elements that made this night possible!

Yum!

Really wish I had one to eat right now!

We blew (pumped?) up a LOT of balloons :)

Luke had a blast kicking them around!

I also set up a photo booth.  There are roughly 100 photos or so that were taken, so here's just some of the photos that were snapped in our photobooth.  I even bought a remote for the person to make the shutter work!  It was awesome... except sometimes after a period of inactivity, it would need to be reset, which kind of defeated the purpose, but it was still worth it :)

Mike and Lisa were the first to test out the photobooth!

Maggie, our goldfish of the night :)

The Party Planning Committee

In case you didn't know...

I mostly just wanted to include this because Mark was by far the shnazziest male at the party.

The girls got the memo for the fishface... not sure what the boys were doing.

Oro & Bill's Half Birthday Booze Barge

Johnny's either about to take off his sunglasses (and lose them) or he's fistpumping because he's having THAT much fun on the lake...

July 17th - I had been waiting for this day for quite some time. Oro and Bill were having a half birthday (along with an ACTUAL birthday with one of their friends). They rented a party boat and you could come, so long as you contributed some dough. There was a LOT of booze on the boat. Unfortunately I couldn't partake in any of that. I was still incredibly hungover from the night before. I tried to enjoy myself, and I did enjoy myself... just not quite as much as I'd have liked to. It was quite a big group of us that were in attendance... also others we did not know. Although some of us got to know some people quite well... especially after a couple rounds of Flip Cup (also, I am very upset we didn't sing "Flipadelphia" when we they--remember, I was NOT partaking) played.

Afterwards a group of us went to Carlos & Charlie's. We ate and some of us had some more to drink (again, I did NOT partake)... and all in all had a really good time seeing each other. It's been a crazy summer for me and I've gotten to hang out with a lot of people, but it seems to have been a crazy summer for my regulars so I haven't gotten to see a lot of them as much as I'd normally like to.

*How did I not get a single photo of Oro?

Some of us DID partake in drinking :)

Not a Lacklustre Night at Lustre Pearl

July 16th - We finally got to hang out "downtown" with Trevin and Abby! Unfortunately we haven't gotten to do the obligatory Dirty 6th trip with them (and until we do, I refuse to consider them Austinites), but Rainey Street is close enough for the time being. Thomas, Rachel & I met up Trevin and Abby for a few drinks. Before we left the house, Thomas had asked me if I wanted to have a Resurrection and I distinctly recall saying, "Nah, I don't think I'll drink much tonight." Dun Dun DUNNNNN! Should've seen THAT foreshadowing.

Three or four greyhounds in (and an accidental pineapple vodka, eww), Rachel and I were feelin' good. Thomas was our DD so he was taking it easy. T&A got there, along with Nikki and a few of her guy friends that I met that time we went to... crap what is the name of that place... The Draught House. It was funny because one of the guys, Lars, had said to me, "Oh yeah, we met before." I told him I did not recall meeting and he said, "Yeah you came to the house." I stared at him like he crazy. "I have not been to any house with you in it," I replied. Then Nikki set us straight, we met at the pub and everything was all good. When he told me his name was Lars, I said, "Oh, and do you have a real girl or a sex doll?" (Of course, referring to Lars and the Real Girl) and he said, "Haha, I do have a girlfriend, but I guess it's POSSIBLE she's a sex doll." He then proceeded to tell me that he has the EXACT SAME LAST NAME as Ryan Gosling's character in the movie. Whaaaaat?

Me with Nikki, Rachel & Abby. Apparently I didn't get the BLUE memo...

We all proceeded to hang out until Abby made me take a shot which I THINK she called a Fireball? She said it was like a ghost came over me. Within in minutes, I went from talky talky Mel to... Silent Bob. No expressions, just a blank face. I texted Thomas saying I wanted to go home and after a few public vomits... we finally made it home where I proceeded to throw up all night. This is a pity, as we were just joined by Johnny & Maggie (whom I hadn't seen in quite some time)

Note to self: Never forsake a Resurrection.

Rachel schooled a few Swedes that night (notice the words behind you, Rach. Please let me say it to you soon.)

At least I wasn't the only one. I got a text the next morning from Rachel letting me know that she, too, yakked that night.
