I found this collage of photos on a blog and I was not aware that Sir Lawrence Olivier played Mr. Darcy. I'd like to see that one. At any rate. Though I had scene clips of Colin Firth as Darcy (and I think he's a spectacular Darcy--though his Mark Darcy character might have more to do with that than P&P) and I've seen Matthew Macfadyen's Darcy, I think my Darcy is the most recent Elliot Cowan. This isn't based on who I think played the role best. It's based more on the fact that Elliot Cowan's Darcy is the one I fell in love with.

I think I'm going to go put Lost in Austen on and fall asleep to it now.

It's Always Sunny in Austin

My new favorite show, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, does not have characters that should be, in any way, EVER admired by anyone. They are despicable, immoral, terrible human beings. That being said, I love them all and have found myself to mirror their language, if not their behaviors. Mostly Sweet Dee's.

Sweet Dee just bought a new car. Her twin brother, fake Dad, and two friends hitched a trailer to her car while she was in the bathroom and tried to drive off on a road trip to the Grand Canyon. What does she say when she runs out and finally catches up to them waiting at a red light? "Goddammit! Get out!"

Later in the same episode, Mac & Charlie are trying to hotwire her car to leave, again, without her. She walks up to them pointing out how proud she is of having talked down the price of a Soul Asylum ("Runaway Train") tape. When she realizes what Mac's trying to do, she screams, "Oh, goddammit!"

So... I've noticed myself saying this phrase quite often lately.

So sorry if I say it around you and it's offensive. :)

Reader's Block?

Why has it been so hard for me to read? I've had Pride & Prejudice for about a week and a half now and I haven't even gotten halfway through it. I barely finished the first volume today. Granted, I only get a limited time to read it... but I'm still disappointed in myself. I will NOT take as long to finish this book as it did for me to finish the Three Musketeers (8 months, anybody?) Anyway, I WILL put a dent in this book the rest of tonight and tomorrow. It's going to be a leisurely weekend!

Maybe I should go to the gym and read...

Better Weekend

I think Thomas read my post last weekend and felt sorry for me, because he came to Austin this weekend! Friday night we went downtown for Kristi's birthday. I think we all had a pretty good time. One of those nights where we all jump around excitedly because we're having fun. I believe the boys made up a new dance called the "Eye-Fall" which was inspired by... someone's eye falling out at Gruv. We all spent more money than we wanted to on bottle service for Kristi--but that's the price of loving your friend.

Daniel Pinkston came downtown... so that was interesting. It was nice seeing him, seeing as how I probably haven't seen him since the Spring '06 show.

Brandon & Natalie were in town! I let them stay at my apartment since Natalie's friends were already a pretty big party and she was hesitant to ask the person they were staying with to let Brandon stay too. It was overall a really good Friday night!

Saturday morning I woke up and made cupcakes and then the four of us (me, Thomas, Brandon & Natalie) met up Mr., Buddy & JJ for lunch at Trudy's. Then T and I headed off to College Station to see Katie. I wanted to visit her this weekend since she just had a birthday and I haven't yet visited her at her apartment. I really like her place--it's super cute! We went to eat Pho and Rachel joined us for a bit. I felt bad because I was really looking forward to having brunch on Sunday morning with her, but our plans changed a bit and we only got to hang with her Saturday night! I'm glad she was able to see me at all though!

Anyway, Thomas and I watched the beginning of the Texas vs. Tech game while I iced Katie's cupcakes... but then... Katie took her temperature and it seems she had a fever. Long story short, she needed to go to the ER to make sure it wasn't a very severe fever and that's where we spent most of our College Station Saturday night. I didn't mind though. I was still getting to spend time with them, albeit in a waiting room watching old Tom Cruise (pre-crazy) movies. Mission Impossible (The first one) and Minority Report. There were douchey mcdouchebag Aggies in the ER, but whatever, one would expect that on game night.

Then we went back to Katie's and hung out until I eventually passed out.

This morning we woke up a little before 10 and hit the road. It's Derek's bday and Thomas wanted to be sure to be back in Dallas in time for dinner.

Overall, great weekend. I'm now watching LOTR Two Towers and making lasagna (... I'm being very loose with ther term 'making') for Johnny & myself.

Bored.

This weekend was a reminder of how much I miss Thomas. I think for the most part I've done really well with him being gone (a... month and a half now?) I've kept myself busy, mostly with trying to decorate Johnny's & my apartment. This morning I woke up about 8:30, did some random organizing and then made Johnny and myself breakfast. I decided to run some errands and Johnny went to Maranda's.

The errands were nice to get out of the way. I went to Chase to deposit the check that Progressive had given me after that girl and Thomas hit each other in my car. Then I went to Half Price Books. I have one right by my new apartment. It's my new favorite place. I've bought a ridiculous amount of books and today I bought a game and some dvds. I got Ever After (Lisa has a copy, but I figured it's time to get one for myself) and I found (for 10 bucks only, mind you) the 2-disc Elizabeth I HBO dvd. The one with Helen Mirren and Jeremy Irons... and Hugh Dancy. Ooh it'll be good! Then I went to Frys to buy ink. It's kind of sad, but the only reason I wanted to buy ink was to print pictures... which probably would be cheaper to just do at a Walgreens, but I'm entirely too lazy for that.

I was determined to finally finish reading The Three Musketeers. It's been awhile since I started (... mid January, anybody?) Yeah, it took me eight months to finish a stupid book. And it's not that I didn't like... I did--but it just had a lot of slow/stopping points and once I stop--it's REALLY HARD to get back on (e.g., the gym).

In October Buddy and I are taking Thursday and Friday off and going to Dallas for OU weekend. Before we head up to Dallas though, we're hoping to be able to see Johnny & Kayla (and maybe JJ?) at school! Then in December we, along with Thomas, are going to Carl's graduation! I'm so exciiiiiited! Chi Tram said we could come up for Thanksgiving if we wanted... that'd be fun!

Anyway... I'm glad I still have my friends in town that I do have... but on weekends like this, though I'm glad to have a weekend on my own where I CAN do nothing... it's a little sad.

Just testing...

I'm just testing out the blogging tool on my iPhone. I'm using the lite one since it's free, but if I like it enough, I may consider buying it for $2. Only because I have a $10 gift card from Crystal's company! And I'd also get to post pictures! I have two that I added onto my facebook yesterday. The first was from happy hour at Zocalo with Buddy, JJ and one of their friends, and the other was from going shopping at HEB alone and hungry. I think I'll like this.

If only I could get the feed of my friends' blogs that I'm following!
