I just read
this article in which some referees got fined and punished for wearing pink whistles (PINK WHISTLES!) in support of breast cancer for Breast Cancer Awareness week. The group of officials were also going to donate their game check that week to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Well, they've been punished. Mostly because they chose not to follow the rules and regulations... and that sets a bad example for the players that they officiate for. Okay, I get that, rule breaking = bad. The end does not justify the means. But let's look past that for a hot minute, and see if a slap on the wrist wouldn't have been more appropriate? (I believe they were revoked a majority of the playoff games to officiate).
For God's sake, let the majority rule in this instance and just LET IT GO. Instead, apparently the person in charge of deciding what to do (we'll call him Douche) waited SEVEN months to decide on it. Ehh, I don't know. It's just... ugh. Sometimes people are just STUPID. These refs weren't snorting lines of coke off the sidelines, they were wearing PINK WHISTLES. In support of BREAST CANCER AWARENESS! And DONATING THEIR CHECK! They didn't change their black and white striped shirts for a hot pink and white gingham print. THEY WORE PINK WHISTLES!
This kind of thing just GRINDS MY GEARS.
P.S. This is why good people stop doing good things, because DOUCHES are DOUCHES and choose to rain on everybody's parade. Which INCLUDES the Komen Foundation.
